About Green Goddess Natural Market

Green Goddess Natural Market is owned and operated by Tammy Loewy and Wynde Kate Reese. The two women met in 2001, while cooking at The Cliffhanger Café in Keene Valley. They instantly became friends and envisioned themselves one day having a food service business together. In the spring of 2004 they started Green Goddess Foods and began selling vegetarian prepared foods at the Lake Placid Farmer’s Market. Their intention was to provide ideas for healthy meals using ingredients from the farmer’s market.

Some of their first recipes included Market Pizza, Market Sandwiches, seasonal soups such as Gazpacho and Butternut squash, fresh juices and smoothies, and their signature items, of which they are still famous, Spring Rolls and Heavenly Hummus. They instantly had a following and expanded to include Elizabethtown, Keene Valley and Troy farmer’s markets, wholesaling to local establishments, and catering. However, they dreamed of one day having a place of their own…

In October of 2007, Tammy and Wynde Kate purchased a small natural food store in Lake Placid and changed the name to Green Goddess Natural Foods. Their intention is to provide healthy, organic products at affordable prices to the local and seasonal consumers.

After 5 years at this quaint location, Green Goddess moved to its present storefront at 2051 Saranac Ave. in the lower parking lot of the Placid Pond Plaza. With the move, The Scape Cafe was created, an on-site cafe and deli serving a large selection of freshly prepared foods using local and organic ingredients. The Scape caters to all diets and dietary restrictions, and offers a fresh juice and smoothie bar in addition to breakfast and lunch served daily.

For those looking for a unique menu for their next event, The Scape Cafe also provides catering services from events ranging from The Ironman, to Destination Weddings, to an intimate dinner for 2. We create personalized menus for each of our clients.

Our Mission

At Green Goddess, our mission is to connect resident and transient customers to our local food growers and producers by offering a convenient way for customers to access local products. We want our customers to experience how delicious fresh organic foods are by offering extensive deli and catering menus from The Scape Cafe, where people can taste the flavors of meals made from scratch. We encourage consumers to become more educated in the Natural Food realm with our Cooking and Wellness classes, and we continually give back to our local communities by volunteering in Farm to School projects and donating our time and money to all of the area’s local schools and Arts Centers.
